In this Spiritual Spotlight Series Quick Tip, Rachel Garrett shares a practical reset for self-trust, intuition, and coming back to your inner authority. If you have ever known what you wanted but still asked five people, searched for signs, pulled cards, or looked outside yourself for confirmation, this episode is for you.

Rachel explores the difference between seeking support and giving your power away, why people-pleasing and “not making waves” can disconnect you from your own knowing, and how to recognize when you are asking for guidance versus asking for permission. You’ll also learn two powerful reflection questions: “What do I already know?” and “Am I asking for guidance or am I asking for permission?”

This episode also discusses how inner knowing may show up in the body through expansion, contraction, heaviness, relief, and quiet clarity. If you use oracle cards, astrology, energy healing, or the Akashic Records, Rachel shares how to let these tools support your intuition without replacing your own truth.

If you are ready to stop outsourcing your truth, strengthen your self-trust, and reconnect with your soul’s wisdom, this quick tip will help you come back to yourself.

Welcome back to the Spiritual Spotlight series. I'm Rachel Garrett, and today's quick tip is all about coming back to your inner authority and learning how to stop outsourcing your truth. Because let's be honest, how many times have you already known the answer? But then asked five people, pulled three Oracle cards, checked your horoscope, watched the TikTok, looked for a sign, asked your best friend, asked your other best friend, and then somehow ended up more confused than what you started with. We have all done it, myself included. And support is beautiful, guidance is beautiful, community is beautiful. I'm not saying you can ever ask for help from someone that you trust, but there is a difference between seeking support and handing your power away. There is a difference between receiving guidance and asking someone else to give you permission to trust what you already know.

Welcome And The Core Problem

This is what I mean when I say stop outsourcing your truth. So many of us are trained to look outside of ourselves first. We are taught to be agreeable, we're taught to be polite, we're taught to not make waves, to make the right choice, to make everyone else comfortable, to second guess our feelings, to explain ourselves before we honor ourselves. And over time, that can weaken our connection to inner authority. You might start asking, what do they think? Will they be upset? Is this selfish? Am I allowed to want this? What if I'm wrong? What if I disappoint someone? But the deeper question is: what do I know? Not what do I fear? Not what I feel pressured to do, not what I would do

Support Versus Giving Away Power

SPEAKER_00

to make me feel good, not what I would do to keep everyone else comfortable. What do I actually know? Your inner authority is part of you that you can feel truth before everyone else votes on that. It may come through your body, it may come through your energy, it may come through a quiet inner knowing, it may come through the repeated feeling of this is not for me, or this is where I'm being called. Your truth does not always arrive loudly. Sometimes it can be simple: a quiet yes, a quiet no, a feeling of relief, a sense of expansion, a little pull in your heart, a repeated knowing that comes back no matter how many times you try talking yourself out of it. But when we're used to outsourcing our truth, we ignore the quiet knowing until it becomes impossible to avoid. What we wait until we're exhausted. We wait

How People Lose Inner Authority

until resentment builds. We wait until our body is screaming. We wait until the situation becomes so uncomfortable that we finally admit, I knew this wasn't a line from the beginning. And I say this with so much love because I think many of us have learned self-trust the hard way. We learned by ignoring ourselves first, but you don't have to keep doing that. One of the most powerful practices that you begin you you can begin using is this before you ask anyone else, pause, ask yourself first, before you text a friend, before you post in the group, before you ask for another sign, before you go into research mode, before you go into the spiral, into the land of 47 open tabs. Again, I know that I'm guilty of that. Pause. Place one hand in your heart, take a breath, and ask, what do I already

What Inner Knowing Feels Like

SPEAKER_00

know? Not not what do I wish was true, not what I'm afraid of, not what will make everyone happy. What do I already know? And then listen. What do I already know? And listen. You may not get a full answer immediately, and that's okay. You might get a sensation, a word, a body response, a feeling of openness or contraction. A memory might pop up, a truth that feels simple but inconvenient. That counts. Your inner authority is not always going to give you a perfect five-step plan with a bow on the top, even though that would be nice. Sometimes it just gives you the next on a step, and that is enough. Another question I love is am I asking for guidance or am I asking for permission? So there is a difference between the two. So again, that can be a little spicy. Am I asking for guidance or am I asking for permission? Because sometimes we already know what we want to do, but we are looking for someone else to bless it so we don't have to fully own the choice. It's kind of like when you know that you're doing something at work, you take someone else on a limb with you. You should always do that if you're in business. But again, that's off topic. But again, we want to say that sometimes we're looking for someone else

The Cost Of Ignoring Yourself

SPEAKER_00

to bless so that we don't fully have to own the choice. You know, we want someone to say, yes, leave. Yes, start, yes, rest, yes, raise your prices. Yes, say no. Yes, stop saying, stop carrying that. Yes, choose yourself. But your soul may already be saying yes, your body may be already saying no, your energy may already be telling you the truth. And when you keep asking any everyone else, you can bury that knowing under other people's fears, projections, opinions, and limitations. Not everyone can hold the vision that your soul is holding, not everyone will understand your path, not everyone has earned access to your decision-making process. That does not make them bad. It just means they may not have authority on your life. You are. So again, today's quick tip is before you outsource your truth, come home to yourself. Ask yourself, what do I already know? What does my body feel?

The Pause And Heart Check

SPEAKER_00

What feels expansive? What feels heavy? What answer keeps returning when I get quiet? And then let your own knowing matter. You can still receive resort, you can still ask trusted people, you can still work with spiritual tools, intuitive guidance, and in the Akashic Records or whatever floats your fancy. But let those things support your inner authority, not replace it. And maybe this is a season that you finally start listening. The goal is to remember that your soul has been speaking to you all along. And remember, healing does not have to be heavy. Sometimes healing begins with one brief moment of saying, I know what I want, and I'm allowed to trust myself. Thank you so much for the spiritual spotlight quick tip, and I'll see you next Friday.
