The Power Of No
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Your intuition doesn’t only speak in big, shiny yeses. Sometimes it lands as a quiet no, a not today, a subtle stomach flip, or that braced feeling in your chest that shows up every time you think about committing. I’m Rachel Garrett, and this quick tip is for empaths, intuitive people, and highly sensitive folks who are used to being the one everyone leans on when things fall apart.
We talk about why saying no can feel so uncomfortable when you’ve been trained to be agreeable, helpful, and “easy” to be around. I unpack the difference between real kindness and self-betrayal, and what happens to your nervous system when you keep overriding your own boundaries: tension turns into fatigue, then resentment, anxiety, shutdown, irritability, and that foggy decision fatigue that makes you wonder where your clarity went.
You’ll get a simple somatic check you can use before you automatically say yes: pause, breathe, and ask your body if this feels expansive or contracting, open or braced. We also sort fear versus truth, because fear is often frantic and urgent, while truth is quieter and grounded even when it’s firm. I close with three reflection questions you can use today to come back into alignment, plus an invite to an Akashic Records reading inside my YouTube membership on July 18 for anyone ready to release old stories and clear energetic noise.
If this helps, share it with a friend who needs a cleaner boundary, subscribe so you don’t miss next Friday’s tip, and leave a review with the one “no” you’re finally ready to honor.

Welcome back to the Spirit to Spotlight Series. I'm Rachel Garrett, and today's quick tip is one I think a lot of us need, especially if you're empathic, intuitive, highly sensitive, or one person that everyone calls when their life is a dumpster fire. So today we're talking about this. Your no is also intuition because intuition does not only speak in yeses, it does not only arrive as a beautiful download, a glowing angel number, a perfectly timed feather, or a magical go for it sign from the universe. Sometimes intuition can arrive as a no, a quiet no, a body no, a not today, a this is not aligned, a I need more time, a
Quick Tip And Who Needs It
SPEAKER_00why does my stomach feel weird every time I talk about this? And for many of us, a no can feel uncomfortable because we have been taught and we have been conditioned to override it. We are taught to be nice, especially as women. We're taught to smile
When Intuition Sounds Like No
SPEAKER_00and say, Oh, thank you so much, to be agreeable, to be helpful, to be easy, to be available, to not disappoint people, to not make things awkward, to not have needs that require someone else to adjust. So a, you know, and then and to listen. Being kind is beautiful, being compassionate is beautiful, being generous is beautiful, but abandoning yourself in order to keep everyone else's comfortable, that's not kindness.
People Pleasing And Self Betrayal
SPEAKER_00That is self-betrayal wearing a cardigan. We've all done it. I know I'm guilty of it. We have said yes when our whole body was saying no. We have agreed to things because we didn't want to explain ourselves. We have stayed in conversations, commitments, relationships, jobs, groups, or patterns long after our energy has already packed a suitcase and hit the road running. So, and here is what happens when we ignore the no for too long. The nervous system starts to speak loudly. At first, it might be subtle, could be a little tension, a little fatigue, a little resentment, a little heaviness, and then it gets louder. Anxiety, shutdown, irritability, exhaustion, feeling disconnected from yourself, feeling like you don't even, you don't know who what you want to do anymore. How many times have you had decision fatigue? So it's not because your intuition has disappeared, but it's because you keep overriding the single. Your no is not negative, your no is a boundary, your no is information, your no is your system saying this does
What Happens When You Override No
SPEAKER_00not feel safe, aligned, honest, or available right now. And you do not have to make your no dramatic for it to be valid. And I just really want to distinguish that is a very important part. A lot of people think they need a huge reason to say no, they need a crisis, they need proof, they need a PowerPoint, you know, presentation explaining why their body is uncomfortable. But sometimes the reason is simply this doesn't feel right for me. And that counts. You're allowed to honor the quiet no before it becomes a full-body screen. And this is where the nervous system work and intuition work is so deeply connected. Because when your nervous system starts to feel safer, it becomes easier to tell the difference between fear, false expectations appearing real, or and truth. So fear feels frantic. It says, decide this right now, do not mess this up. Everybody's gonna be upset, you're gonna lose something. And truth often can feel quieter, it may still feel uncomfortable, but there's groundedness underneath it. It may say, pause. It's okay to pause. Listen, this is not for you. You need more space, you already know your body is part of how your intuition speaks. So today's quick tip is before you automatically say yes, pause and ask your body,
Fear Versus Truth In The Body
SPEAKER_00not your guilt, not your people pleasing, not your fear being misunderstood, your body. Take a breath and ask, does this feel expansive or contracting? Do I feel open or braced? Am I saying yes from alignment or am I saying yes because I'm afraid what will happen if I say no? And please hear this. You can be loving and still have boundaries. You can be spiritual and still say no. You can be compassionate and still protect your peace. It is a gate that helps you to choose what enters your field. And a boundary is not a wall
The Body Check Before Yes
SPEAKER_00around your heart. Again, it's a gate that helps you to choose what enters your field. And your energy needs to be that gate, especially if you're someone who's feeling everything, especially if people naturally come to you for support because you're the beacon of life that they feel drawn to, especially if you're used to being the one who holds it all together. Those are the type of people that need the most support because they're holding it all together and they keep saying, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, I'll do whatever you need. Remember, your energy is sacred. Your capacity is sacred. Your no is sacred too. So here are three reflection questions for today. Where have I said yes when my body said no? What boundary would bring me back into alignment? And can I honor my no without needing to overexplain it? So again, I am holding an Akashic record reading on July 18th. That's inside of my YouTube membership. So it's a beautiful time to ask yourself, what am I ready to release? Not force, not fix, not control, but what am I truly ready to release? The tension, the old story, that fear that keeps looping over and over and over again, the belief that you have to earn peace, the energetic weight that was never
Three Questions For Alignment
SPEAKER_00yours to carry. So inside the healing, we're going to be focusing on grounding of the nervous system, clearing energetic noise, and helping the body to feel safe enough to receive deeper soul guidance. So if you feel called to join us, the the link to join will definitely be in the show notes. But whether
Akashic Reading Invite And Closing
SPEAKER_00or not you are ready to join us, and that's okay, that can also be your energetic no. Let today's message land in your body. Your no is not the problem. Your no is not rude. Your no is not a failure of love. Your no, sometimes your no, it's just the doorway back to your truth. So thank you for being here on the quick spiritual spotlight quick tips. Take one breath and ask yourself where is my body asking me to honor the no? And I will see you all next Friday. Thank you.
